Camping Toca da Raposa

A lovely small campsite in the countryside. Great facilities, convivial terrace and delicious home-cooked dinner. Very friendly staff.

Very helpful staff, who when called to ask about availability, told us about the option to join for a self-made Chili (with a vegetarian option) for dinner that evening. We didn’t know that at this point in the day, but this ended up being the perfect food for a rather rainy evening. They also offer breakfast, which was a nice change to our usual camper food. The bar area itself was lovely, with multiple drink options on sale and very friendly cats (and dogs) around. The location itself is great. A very quiet area, off the main road (a bit bumpy to get there though) and it’s easy to get to the Serra da Estrela mountains from there.

Located close to the beautiful nature park Serra de Estrella. Plenty of shade from young oak trees scattered around the camp. Terraced plots with plenty of vegetation between to feel less crowded. Nice clean facilities Conns. No electronic payments (cash only). Hard ground if you pitch the tent it’s hard to drive in nails. Stray dogs running around at night barking. Not that cheap as some of the earlier reviewers suggested. Probably good restaurant but because we didn’t have much cash couldn’t use it. Overall I’ll call it 3,5/5
